The R&R: Rehabilitate and Recover Program is brought to you through a partnership with Draper Therapies and Equiflexsleeve coupled with NYEF right here at Clermont Farm. The initial project started when equestrian and marketer CJ Millar’s OTTB jumper was injured in a pasture accident, damaging his suspensory ligaments in both hind fetlocks. Through work with the R&R Program, he is well on his way to recovery and an eventual return to full competition.
In addition, her other horse, another OTTB, suffered a hind leg laceration. While different than the suspensory issue, this also allowed the testing of the R&R program’s partner products to determine how they could help reduce swelling and increase healing while allowing limited use of NSAIDs such as bute which, especially in long term situations, can cause damage to the stomach and trigger ulcers.
The story of both horses has been chronicled through the Draper Therapies blog, and will be syndicated here so that you can follow along. Check back regularly for updates and news on R&R, as well as for stories of new equine patients we help on their road to recovery.
