Clermont Farm houses a full service thoroughbred training facility as well as the state of the art NY Equine Fitness Center. Together, we can offer the best in training and rehabilitative care for your equine athlete.
Based on a historic 160 acre property, Clermont Farm boasts two race tracks. A 5/8 mi outdoor track with the same surface at Aqueduct includes a clocker’s booth, and a starting gate used in training. Our indoor track is 3/16 mi and surrounded by stalls for horses in training so that they can be kept in work regardless of the weather conditions outside.
The NY Equine Fitness Center (NYEF) has a 22 stall attached barn to house ship-ins that come in for the day or short term care through a weekend or week. The rehabilitation barn is a full service barn set up to allow horses proper ventilation, stalls with windows between stalls to allow horses to see their neighbors, and stalls with just windows to the outdoors for the less-than-social rehab patient. NYEF uses peat moss bedding for its excellent absorbent and cushioning properties, which is incredibly important to horses in rehab.
Turnouts range from small round paddocks for recovering equines, to small-medium individual paddocks, on up to large pastures with plenty of room to run and play. All of our pasture boarded horses have full run-in sheds that include water and electricity for comfort in all weather conditions. Fencing is a combination of board fencing and/or no-climb fencing for the safety of all of the horses in our care.
We also have a covered round pen for starting horses with minimal distractions, or bringing rehabilitation horses back into work in a quiet and controlled environment. Right across from the indoor track and training barn, the covered round pen is easy to access.
The project for 2014/2015 is a full update and renovation on the breeding and stallion barn, with the plan to bring it back to regular use by early 2015. This will allow not just stallion boarding, but collection and insemination services provided by our team of veterinarians as well as a full breeding and foaling lab and facilities.
Our rehabilitation center is located at Clermont Farm – a scenic 165-acre Thoroughbred training center overlooking the Catskill Mountains. The Rehab Center includes an 18-stall attached barn for overnight or extended stays. Additional stalls are available in the training center for horses that remain in training. There is a 3/16 mile indoor track as well as a 5/8 mile outdoor track for horses that need to maintain conditioning during their stay. A variety of turnout options are available from individual round pens to large grass paddocks.
